Los lenape son una de las 500 Naciones Indígenas norteamericanas que vivían en lo que hoy son los Estados Unidos, más concretamente en Nueva Jersey, Pensilvania, el sur del estado de Nueva York y el estado de Delaware.
Su nombre significa "el pueblo". Se les conoce también como los lenapes lenni (la "gente de verdad") o como los indios de Delaware.
Los lenape eran una parte del grupo algonquino. En su idioma, ellos llamaban a su patria Scheyischbi, "el lugar que se aproxima al océano".
The Lenape are one of the 500 North American Indigenous Nations that lived in what is now the United States, more specifically in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, southern New York state and the state of Delaware.
Its name means "the town." They are also known as the Lenapes Lenni (the "real people") or the Delaware Indians.
The Lenape were a part of the Algonquian group. In their language, they called their homeland Scheyischbi, "the place that approaches the ocean."
